Our Story

Barlow Home Sitting was founded in 2017 by Kivia, who recognized a growing need for reliable, in-home pet care. After hearing countless distressing stories from dog owners about their pets' experiences while they were away, Kivia felt compelled to make a difference. Her extensive background as a state-certified dog groomer, combined with her personal experience as a devoted dog owner, gave her a deep understanding of the emotional toll of leaving pets behind and the anxiety it can cause.

Kivia’s insight into the stress of separation is further enriched by her extensive experience with therapy dogs. Her mother, a therapist, used dogs in her practice, providing Kivia with a deep understanding of the profound impact that animals can have on human mental health through the stories she heard. These experiences underscored the importance of providing both pets and their owners with the highest level of care and reassurance.

Driven by these heartfelt stories and her own understanding of the bond between humans and animals, Kivia set out to create a service designed to minimize stress for pets and offer peace of mind for their owners. Her goal was to ensure that clients could fully enjoy their time away, knowing their beloved pets were in caring, trustworthy hands.

In 2024, having been blessed with more clients than she could personally accommodate, Kivia decided to expand the team at Barlow Home Sitting. This growth allows her company to offer more options to meet the diverse needs of clients and provide even more time and attention to each pet. Today, every service we offer is infused with the same dedication and care that inspired Kivia to start this journey, ensuring that our expanded team continues to uphold the high standards of service and compassion that have defined Barlow Home Sitting from the beginning.
